My local library has a restriction on Blogspot sites, and given my exams next week I was in there all day. Even without that I wouldn't have had a long preview of the episode. I can sum up my thoughts in one sentence: Just 4 episodes after Matt and Trey explicitly asked why the hell Randy has a new interest in all his episodes, we're getting that very kind of ep tonight.
I accepted that there's a legit reason to do a Broadway-themed episode, considering their interest and the recent success of "The Book of Mormon." But it still felt odd to go back to the old episodes so quickly. I had a feeling I'll be remembering Stan drinking the Jameson for a long time coming.
That being said, this was a lot better than I thought it would be. Liked the bro parts a lot more, and I was surprised - or, rather, not at the end - that there weren't any gay jokes given how heavily gay Broadway is. (Three of the four composers that Randy broed out with are actually gay, with Webber being the only hetero in the group.) The Shelley subplot was typical in that it only served one stupid purpose (to have Larry Feegan die after not wearing a life preserver), but the "Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark" jokes saved it. Even if I was waiting the whole episode for them.
Solid ep, probably a B. Aside from "Royal Pudding" Matt and Trey do know how to make theater episodes work.
